Linda enjoyed a varied career in accounting before finding her true calling in film accounting at The Network Productions. She started her career working for the South African Revenue Service (SARS) – the local tax authority – for three years, before moving into hospital accounting, banking, and then manufacturing accounting. In 1999 she started work in film accounting, and in 2004 she joined The Network in Cape Town. “While I knew I had an aptitude for accounts,” says Linda, “I found it a bit mundane and repetitive until I got into film. Whoopee, who knew that accounting could be be exciting?! In film we work with multiple short and intense projects and have to control expenses against budgets and produce daily client accounts – it’s fast paced and really stimulating. There’s never a dull moment, and it’s so varied it keeps you interested and on your toes.
